Ceramic, wooden structure, textile, Korean paint
82 x 52 x 30 cm, 2026

The sculpture consists of an open wooden structure that frames a central void. At its upper ends, small ceramic elements evoke ancient Egyptian cosmetic spoons, their delicate finish contrasting with the solidity of the wood. At the base, a reclining figure is suspended in a stretched piece of fabric, introducing a sense of fragility and care.
The lotus, common in such objects, functioned both as an ornamental motif and as a source for essences, linking it to bodily and sensory practices. The materials—wood, fabric, and ceramic—refer to the everyday and the perishable, in contrast to the durable and the funerary.
In this shift, the spoons acquire a symbolic dimension that exceeds their original function, subtly evoking the ushabtis that accompanied the deceased in their journey to the afterlife.
