Cuatro flores no fueron suficientes
Ceramic, wooden structure, high-density foam, brass, textile, Korean paint
135 x 70 x 38 cm, 2026
This sculpture consists of a wooden structure reminiscent of a Romanesque pedestal. Upon it stand two figures: a larger one in a serene pose, holding a smaller, vulnerable figure suspended in mid-air—Ulysses. At the threshold between ancient mythology and contemporary experience, the work explores a critical navigation that confronts the excesses of our culture. Ulysses becomes a metaphor for the modern subject, torn between duty and desire, memory and escape. Here, however, he is no longer invulnerable, but fragile: a brittle ceramic figure shaped by external forces.
The difference in scale emphasizes the power dynamic between the figures, while the small ceramic flowers with faces reinforce the project’s central theme—the flower as an ambivalent symbol of beauty and loss of consciousness.
